Hall of Justice Tour

Trevor, Ryan and I spent yesterday morning at the courthouse, meeting the prosecutors and judges, and sitting in on several hearings. As far as we could tell, things were all postponed to new dates. Some interesting items: All files for the court are stored in the court. Think cupboards filled and piles of cases up against every available wall space. Inmates are brought in and sat where ever there is room - mingled with citizens. Officers must remove their weapons prior to coming into the building (I think - though it may just be the court room) and when asked, Trevor said he gets about a half dozen new cases each week - the Davao DA's take on 15 new ones a day!!

In the second photo you can see the inmate transport van and the holding cell for the courthouse behind it.

As has been our experience in all tours - the people were generous with their time and answered all our questions in such a friendly manner - we just feel treated so well.
